Project Description

The projects of the EXPRELA research group are looking for companies interested in testing enzymes in real industrial environments and in case of significant improvement transfer and commercialization of the technology. They are also open to collaborate with companies to isolate new enzymes or apply targeted evolution techniques to adapt enzymes to their needs.

Description of the Area of Activity / Technology

We offer a catalogue of different enzymes that have been genetically modified to increase their thermostability or their effectiveness in different industrial environments. Likewise, there are enzymes that have been isolated from various geothermal sources that have a high thermostability and characteristics that make them interesting for different uses. The available enzymes have very diverse applications, among others, their usefulness in the synthesis of prebiotics for the food industry, in the production of lactose-free milk derivatives, in the production of sugars, in the modification of fatty acids, in the synthesis of drugs and treatment of certain diseases, in the cosmetics and perfume industry, in the detergent industry, in the paper industry, in the production of biofuels, in the treatment of lignocellulosic waste… There are also meta-gen libraries of geothermal sources of various origins and the technical capacity to search, if necessary and on demand, for other enzymes of interest that allow the catalogue of currently available enzymes to be expanded.
