Project Description

In recent decades the growing availability of data and information has been the basis for important innovations in different sectors of the bioeconomy: agriculture, livestock, pharmaceuticals, health,… This trend is going to accelerate with the implementation of IoT, which is going to generate an enormous amount of data from the physical world.

Currently many data come from heterogeneous sources, use different communication standards and data semantics, and in many cases are stored and processed in independent and closed platforms. This creates difficulties in obtaining information that relates to different sources. On the other hand, there are limitations for different entities in the value chain of a sector to share information with each other; these limitations are associated with the privacy and confidentiality of that information and the difficulty in obtaining a return for the entity that comes from sharing that data with the rest of the value chain.

The objective of this project is the development of a Data Marketplace where different actors of the bioeconomy value chains can share their data, generate information through an analysis that integrates data from the entity itself and other information sources, and obtain a return from the use that other entities make of their data. This platform will enrich the analysis of data that entities carry out, facilitating the integration of external sources that provide great value to decision making. On the other hand, through this platform new business models based on the data can be generated.
