Project Description
The projects of the EXPRELA research group are looking for companies interested in using these meta-gen libraries or in building and analyzing others by similar procedures.
The meta-genotheques can be used to discover new enzymes or bioactive peptides. Also for studies based on the DNA sequence of the microbiome from which they were constructed.
Description of the Area of Activity / Technology
The invention consists of gen libraries of several thousand clones with metagenomic DNA from different samples of geothermal springs. In summary, the DNA of the entire microbial population present in each sample has been purified, fragmented and inserted into plasmid or phosmid-like vectors. The recombinant vectors have been introduced into microorganisms, in this case bacteria, which are kept frozen at -80 ºC.
