Celtalga

Description

Celtalga Extract is a spin-off from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC, Spain), whose activity is focused on the production of aqueous seaweed extracts from the Galician coast. The ultrasound assisted process applied to obtain the extracts uses water as the only solvent, being thus an ecological process. Both the bioactive ingredients and the processes used are patented by the University of Santiago.

Areas/Lines R+D+i

It is a technology-based company based on a patented water process:

  • Celtalga Extract is created as a technology-based company based on a patented aqueous process. The limitation of processing times and temperatures makes these extracts, obtained by aqueous route, preserve the nutrients and antioxidants to the maximum, which makes them ideal for the natural cosmetics and food industry.
  • The algae from which they are harvested are certified organic and are obtained in accordance with exploitation plans regulated by the Xunta de Galicia, which guarantees the sustainability of the resources. The two areas in which they are obtained are the Illas Atlánticas National Park and the Rías Altas.
  • They are a reference in the generation of novel natural ingredients and active principles of marine origin for the food, cosmetic and health sectors.
