The two main advantages of this technology are: substantial cost savings compared to the current standard of care (the use of intracoronary pressure guiding) and substantial improvement in the patient’s quality of life. This is an advance demanded by cardiology services and public and private health systems.
In particular, the impact of this technology is documented in the UK Health Technology Assessment Agency (NICE) Guide:
FlowReserve currently provides a report with the 3D reconstruction of the coronary arteries and the determination of the functional aspects of the lesion using flow dynamics modeling techniques. This report allows the cardiology team, before performing invasive methods, to better diagnose coronary disease for its treatment.
For the development of these research projects, an agreement has been signed between the University of Santiago de Compostela and the University Hospital Complex of Santiago with the aim of clinically validating research on patients in a safe manner and in compliance with personal data protection legislation.
