The Galician Public Foundation Supercomputing Technology Centre of Galicia (CESGA) is the computing, high-performance communications and advanced services centre of the Galician Scientific Community, University Academic System and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
CESGA Foundation was born from the commitment of the Galician Government to promote common services to support research tasks, and on the other hand, from the interest of the “”Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas”” to promote in Galicia a working environment in the area of intensive computing, communications and advanced services in the information and knowledge society.
Its mission is to contribute to the advancement of Science and Technology, through research and application of high-performance computing and communications, as well as other information technology resources, in collaboration with other institutions, for the benefit of Society.
The aims of the Foundation are all those that promote research and the use of intensive computing, advanced communications and the development of information and communication technologies, as an instrument for sustainable socio-economic development, paying special attention to cooperative relations between public or private research centres and the productive sector.
Research at CESGA is focused on Computer Science with the aim of contributing significantly to the advancement of two areas of interest:
Technologies for High Performance Computing (HPC) and e-Science
New mathematical algorithms, parallelization and new programming languages, e-science portals, cloud computing for HPC and monitoring and accounting for current and next generation supercomputers and applications and e-science adoption.
