Description

The South Galicia Health Research Institute is a Health Research Institute created in 2008 through the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Regional Ministry of Health, the Galician Health Service and the University of Vigo. The IISGS is a multidisciplinary research area in Biomedicine, which brings together clinical research groups from the Health Areas of Southern Galicia (Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra) and biotechnology groups from the University of Vigo, with the aim of promoting transnational research and innovation, thus ensuring the effective application of research results in terms of benefits to the health of citizens.

Its mission is to promote research, teaching, innovation and scientific-technological development in the Galician health field. They work to promote Galician innovation and research, providing our researchers and the rest of society with the necessary means and resources.

Areas and Research Groups

The Fundación Biomédica Galicia Sur is in charge of the integral management of research, development and technological innovation projects that are requested and developed in the centres of the integrated health areas of Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra.
