CeNTI – Center for Nanotechnology and Technical, Functional and Intelligent Materials is a private, non-profit R&D institute, located in the north of Portugal. It is an Institute of New Technologies with a multi-sector orientation, equipped with the most advanced technology and that develops research, technological development, innovation and engineering activities in the fields of intelligent and functional materials and systems.

Founded in 2006, it is the result of an intense association of 3 universities, 2 technology centers and 1 new technology institute, all of them recognized for their national and international importance: the University of Minho, the University of Porto, the University of Aveiro, CITEVE – Technological Center of the Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal, CTIC – Technological Center of the Leather Industries, and CEIIA – Center of Excellence and Innovation of the Automobile Industry.

CeNTI has advanced physical means of development, testing, prototyping and support for expansion in the areas of nanotechnology, functionalization and “smartization” of materials, specifically with regard to electronics technologies. printed. It is distinguished from its European peers by mastering the functionalization and “smartization” of substrates of capital importance for the relevant industries in Portugal, such as textiles, polymers, leather, paper, glass, ceramics, natural stone, concrete, cork, wood, etc

The mission and activity of CeNTI has stood out for its dynamism and its proximity support to industrial sectors, both nationally and internationally, to develop and validate new technologies based on the development of new materials, new coatings, new interactive technologies. and lighting systems and new sensor systems, in multi-sector and multi-technological areas, focusing on support for the areas: “Automotive and Aeronautics”, “Construction, Architecture and Smart Spaces” and “Health, Protection and Well-being”.
