Na origem das Separações Inteligentes está o trabalho de investigação e desenvolvimento para a criação de uma tecnologia inovadora de microfiltração utilizando filtros cerâmicos que podem ser adaptados e aplicados em várias indústrias. Como resultado do amadurecimento da tecnologia patenteada, a Smart Separations Portugal foi criada em 2018 com o objectivo principal de alojar a primeira unidade de produção da empresa e a unidade de investigação e desenvolvimento de produtos para aplicações na área da biotecnologia.
